A gritty, noir-style illustration of a desolate military outpost in a desert landscape at dusk. Smoke rising in the distance against a dark purple and orange sky. In the foreground, a tattered flag waves listlessly. The mood is somber, cynical, and lonely.

Here we go again. It is the same old song, and I am sick of dancing to it. You wake up, grab your coffee, and check the breaking news regarding **US soldiers killed in Kuwait**. You hope for something different. Maybe something good. But no. The world doesn't work like that. The headlines are screaming the same ugly truth they always do. Six American service members are dead following a confirmed **Iran missile strike**.

The Defense Secretary came out to confirm the **US military casualties**. He stood there in his nice suit, looking very serious. He used all the right words. He talked about tragedy. He talked about duty. But let’s be real for a second. Let’s cut through the noise and the **Middle East conflict** jargon. Those words don't bring anyone back. They are just words. They are filler. They are the things powerful people say when they fail to protect the people they sent into harm's way.

Six families are broken today. That is the reality. While the politicians in Washington argue about budgets and polls, six families got the knock on the door that everyone fears. And for what? That is the question nobody wants to answer. Why were they there? Why are we still playing this deadly game in the desert? We have been in and out of that region for as long as I can remember. My dad complained about it. I am complaining about it. And at this rate, the next generation will be complaining about it too.

It is Kuwait this time. A base got hit. A strike from Iran. It sounds shocking, but is it really? Be honest with yourself. When you put targets on the map, someone is eventually going to shoot at them. It isn’t rocket science. It is simple math. But the people running the show act like it is a huge surprise. They act like they couldn't see it coming. That is the part that drives me crazy. They play with fire, and when people get burned, they act shocked.

Look at the players on the board. On one side, you have the Iranian regime. They are reckless. They want to show how tough they are. They fire a missile and kill six people, and they think this makes them strong. It doesn't. It just makes them murderers. They are gambling with lives, hoping the United States doesn't wipe them off the map. It is a stupid, dangerous game of chicken.

On the other side, you have our leaders. And I don't care which party you like. They are all the same to me. The Right screams for war. They want to drop bombs immediately. They think every problem is a nail and the only tool they have is a hammer. They love the tough talk. The Left isn't any better. They wring their hands. They talk about "complex situations." They try to play nice with people who want us dead. Both sides are useless. They are two sides of the same rusted coin.

This is what happens when you treat the world like a chess board. The people in the high towers move the pieces around. "Put a base here," they say. "Send a fleet there," they say. It makes them feel powerful. It makes them feel like they are doing something important. But they aren't the ones sitting in the barracks. They aren't the ones watching the sky, wondering if a missile is coming down.

The saddest part is that we know what happens next. We have seen this movie before. There will be speeches. There will be flags at half-staff. Everyone on TV will look sad for about three days. The pundits will yell at each other. One side will say we are too weak. The other side will say we are too aggressive. They will use these six deaths to score points against each other. It is disgusting. It is a grift.

Then, the retaliation will start. We will bomb something of theirs. They will yell about it. We will yell back. Maybe more people will die. Maybe it will quiet down for a month. But nothing will actually change. The wheel keeps spinning. The rich guys who make the weapons will get richer. The politicians will get re-elected. And the soldiers? They just try to survive until they can come home.

We need to stop pretending this is normal. It isn't normal to have kids dying in a desert halfway across the world for reasons nobody can clearly explain anymore. Is it oil? Is it influence? Is it just habit? I don't think the people in charge even know anymore. They are just on autopilot. The machine is running itself, and it runs on blood.

So spare me the thoughts and prayers from the people in charge. Spare me the tough talk from the guys in the nice suits. They failed. Six Americans are gone because the people running the world are incompetent, greedy, and stupid. And tomorrow, they will get up and do it all over again. That is the real tragedy. We never learn. We just reload.
