Rich Jerks in Switzerland Pretend to Fix a War That Won't End

Look at those guys in Davos. They wear those puffy jackets that cost more than your car. They drink water that comes from a special rock. They sit in big chairs and talk about peace. It is a great show. It really is. They tell us that they are making progress. They say the world is getting better because they had a lunch and talked for an hour. It is a lie. It is always a lie. They love the sound of their own voices. They think if they say a word enough times, it becomes real. They like the word peace. It makes them look like good people. But the reality is much uglier than their fancy winter coats.
Then you have the new guys. The ones sent by the orange man in Florida. They think they are the smartest guys in the room. They think they have the magic touch. They call themselves envoys. That is just a fancy word for a guy who carries a bag for a politician. They went to talk to the Russians. They thought they had a deal. They told everyone that things were looking up. They were wrong. They were so wrong it is almost funny. But it is not funny, because it is just more of the same garbage from a different set of suits. They think they are deal makers. They are actually just noise makers.
Russia is not playing games. They are not interested in the fancy jackets or the thin air of Switzerland. They told the messengers to go home. They said they will keep fighting. They want the land. They call it territorial objectives. That is how people in suits talk about stealing. If you steal a bike, you are a thief. If a country steals a whole city, it is a territorial objective. They said they will not stop until they get what they want. They do not care about the meetings. They do not care about the progress reports. They just want to win. They are the only honest people in this whole mess. They are honest about being bad guys. Everyone else is just pretending to be a hero while they watch from a safe distance.
Why do we keep watching this? Every year, the rich people go to the snow. Every year, they say they are fixing the world. And every year, the world stays broken. The people on the Left love Davos because they get to feel smart. They talk about global cooperation. It sounds nice. It does not do anything, but it sounds nice. The people on the Right hate Davos because they think it is a secret club. It is not a secret club. It is just a boring club for people with too much money. They think they can do a better job. They send their own messengers. They think they are tough. But the only deal they make is a deal to keep everyone looking at them instead of looking at the mess they have made.
The war keeps going. People keep dying. And the guys in the suits keep talking. They use big words to hide the fact that they are useless. They talk about security frameworks and strategic goals. It is all nonsense. It is just a way to make sure they get invited back next year. If the war actually stopped, they would not have anything to talk about. They need the war. They need the crisis. It is how they stay important. They look at a map like it is a board game. They do not see people. They see points. They see lines. And they see a chance to look like a leader on the news.
Russia is just being Russia. They have a big army and they want to use it. They are not going to stop because a guy from New York or a guy from California told them to. They have their own plans. They have their own hard line. That just means they are not moving. They are like the kid on the playground who takes your ball and then sits on it. You can talk to him all you want. You can bring your friends. You can offer him a cookie. He does not care. He wants the ball. And until somebody makes him move, he is going to stay right there. The guys at Davos are just standing around the edge of the playground. They are talking about how they are monitoring the situation. It is pathetic.
So don't believe the news when they say peace is coming. Don't believe the guys in the fancy coats. And don't believe the new messengers with their fake smiles. They are all part of the same show. The actors change, but the script is the same. The rich stay rich. The powerful stay powerful. And the rest of us just get to watch the world burn while they drink wine in the mountains. It’s a joke, and we are the punchline. Nobody is coming to save the day. They are all too busy checking their bank accounts and looking in the mirror. Russia is going to keep hitting until they get what they want, and the rest of the world will just keep holding meetings about it. Welcome to the future. It looks exactly like the past.
