CARACAS—In a blistering three-hour address characterized by the fervent hand-gestures and vocal decibels of a socialist revolutionary, Interim Leader Delcy Rodríguez delivered a State of the Union speech Tuesday that violently condemned American interference while simultaneously outlining a legislative package indistinguishable from the 2016 Republican party platform.

“Comrades! The Yankee devil attempts to strangle our sovereign neck, but we shall bite back with the teeth of deregulation!” Rodríguez shouted, pounding a podium draped in a Venezuelan flag that had been hastily photoshopped to include a golden ‘T’. “We must seize the means of production so that we may offer them to the private sector at tremendous, beautiful, really spectacular tax rates!”

The Interim Leader spent the first hour of the speech denouncing the “gringo bourgeoisie” before announcing a new initiative to bulldoze three public housing blocks to make room for a “very classy, very high-end” golf course. Sources confirmed that while Rodríguez paused frequently to lead chants of “The people, united, will never be defeated,” she clarified that “the people” mostly referred to coal lobbyists and real estate developers.
